ഈ വർഷം ജനുവരിയിൽ കൊച്ചിയിൽ നടന്ന ഇന്ത്യ പ്രസ്സ് ക്ലബ്ബിന്റെ മാധ്യമ അവാർഡ് host ചെയ്തത് രാജേഷ് Rajesh Keshav ആയിരുന്നു. മുൻപത്തെ വർഷങ്ങളിലും രാജേഷ് ആ ജോലി ഭംഗി ആയി ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. ഈ മാസം ഒക്ടോബർ 9-11 വരെ അമേരിക്കയിലെ ന്യൂ ജേഴ്സിയിൽ നടക്കുന്ന Media Conference നു ഞങ്ങൾ പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ പ്ലാൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. കൊച്ചിയിൽ വന്ന് അമേരിക്കൻ വിസ അടിച്ച പാസ്പോർട്ട്‌ collect ചെയ്തു വരുമെന്ന പറഞ്ഞയാളിന് ആ പാസ്പോർട്ട്‌ വാങ്ങാൻ വിധി അനുവദിച്ചില്ല.
ലോകത്തിന്റെ പല ഭാഗത്തും പരിപാടികളുമായി സഞ്ചരിക്കുമ്പോൾ രാജേഷ് കൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നുന്നള്ളത് ഒരു ബലവും ധൈര്യവുമായിരുന്നു. കണ്ണുമടച്ചു പരിപാടികൾ വിശ്വസിച്ചു ഏൽപ്പിക്കാവുന്ന ഒരു തികഞ്ഞ പ്രൊഫഷണൽ. IPCNA പ്രസിഡന്റ് സുനിലും Sunil Tristar , സെക്രട്ടറി ഷിജോയും Poulose Shijo രാജേഷിന്റെ അഭാവം ചടങ്ങിനെ ബാധിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം വെല്ലൂരിൽ നിന്നും രാജേഷിനെ കണ്ട് ഇറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ കൺവെൻഷനു പോകുന്ന കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞില്ല… എന്തോ പറയാൻ തോന്നിയില്ല..

It was just last January when Rajesh, with his inimitable grace, hosted the India Press Club’s media awards night in Kochi. It wasn’t his first time; he had performed that duty with an easy professionalism for years, and each time, he left an indelible mark.
This month, from October 9th to 11th, we were meant to be in New Jersey for the media conference. He was waiting for his passport after his interview, a simple administrative step. But fate, in its cruel way, intervened.
For all of us who traveled and worked with him, Rajesh was a pillar of strength, a compass of courage. Just knowing he was there made the chaos of any event manageable. He was, in every sense of the word, a consummate professional.
I spoke with Sunil, the President of India Press Club and Secretary Shijo. They confessed they were scrambling, trying to ensure the event would not suffer from Rajesh’s sudden and painful absence.
Just days before, I had seen him in Vellore. ,I didn’t tell him I was heading to the media convention. Something just stopped me. I couldn’t bring myself to say it…
Now, as I head out alone, I’m clinging to a thread of hope that, somehow, I’ll return to a better reality. Go and come back well, my dost. 🧿🙏
