NAGPUR: HCG Cancer Center Nagpur has launched a one-of-a-kind indigenous Asia`s first scalp cooling therapy for patients receiving chemotherapy, which helps in reducing the loss of hair caused by alopecia, as well as ensures faster hair growth after completion of chemotherapy. This technology was inaugurated by the hospital’s team of medical oncologists Dr. Sushant Ikhar, Dr. Shantanu Pendse and Dr. Kapil Raut.
EVA, the latest and revolutionary scalp cooling technology also known as Smart Temperature Management, apart from being cost effective, it is also effective in maintaining the physical and mental beauty of the patient.
Scalp cooling system is a machine to prevent hair fall which is placed on the patient’s head during the chemotherapy process, which reduces the temperature of the scalp and reduces the effect of chemo on the hair follicles. In this procedure, a special cooling cap is placed on the patient’s head which maintains the exact temperature during the chemo infusion.
Mr. Venkateshwarlu Marapaka, COO, HCG Cancer Centre Nagpur, said that “We are delighted to launch one-of-a-kind Asia`s first scalp cooling therapy for cancer patients. This Therapy will be a beacon of hope for all our patients. The advent of scalp cooling therapy has brought a glimmer of hope for cancer patients who previously had to suffer hair loss due to chemotherapy. HCG is steadfast in its mission to positively impact the lives of those battling cancer”.
The effectiveness of scalp cooling can depend on various factors, such as the type and stage of cancer, the type and dose of chemotherapy, the patient’s hair type, and the patient’s overall health.
